Underlining their commitment to meeting the social value commitments all NHS suppliers need to demonstrate, Omnimed recently sponsored a local theatre production of 'Othello', produced and directed by Winchester-based professional theatre company and Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), Discarded Nut.
Omnimed's Marketing Consultant, Genevieve Gillard attended the show on press night, and was impressed to see such a great showcase of talent. Genevieve said,
"It was a very accessible production, ideal for those who are either new to Shakespeare or seeing 'Othello' for the first time. Ashley Mejri absolutely nailed the moment where Othello starts to mentally and emotionally unravel after discovering the alleged betrayal from Desdemona."
Genevieve added,
"From speaking to the Producer and Executive Director, Harriet Morris before and after the show it is clear what a huge difference Omnimed's sponsorship has made to bringing this production to life. I also found out further details on the reach of Discarded Nut's work and challenges the organisation faces, which further underlined how important it was for us to provide sponsorship."
Following a well attended press night, Omnimed were delighted to find out that the show has been nominated for no less than FIVE Fringe Theatre Awards! The nominations cover the following categories:
- Will Pickering (Sound)
- Ben Lynn (Lead Performance)
- Ashley Mejri (Supporting Performance)
- Noël Jones (Direction)
- Harriet Morris (Production)
Omnimed's sponsorship also helped fund the first schools workshop and performance at Perins School, in Alresford, Hampshire, which just happens to be the school Omnimed's Web & Digital Consultant, Rachel Laing attended.
Marilitsa Alexiou, Director of Creative Arts, Perins School said,
"The opportunity for our students to work with director Noël Jones alongside the professional actors, and to engage with the play at a high level, is invaluable…Experiences like this are vital in exposing young people to live theatre of real quality."
Omnimed's Commercial Manager, John Wood said,
"To know we have supported not only a multi-award nominated production but also a schools workshop and performance further cements the fact that this was an extremely worthy investment."
