Not content with supporting the best outcomes in hospital-based theatres, Omnimed is pleased to announce sponsorship of a local theatre production of 'Othello', produced and directed by Winchester-based professional theatre company and Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), Discarded Nut.
About Discarded Nut
Discarded Nut is a female-led charity powered by the belief that creativity belongs to everyone. Known for trailblazing performances that champion emerging talent and DNYT alumni, Discarded Nut takes a fearless approach to classic texts that is both theatrically compelling and educationally enriching.
Discarded Nut brings together three strands of work under one umbrella:
- Discarded Nut Theatre Co. making bold, small-scale theatre with a contemporary edge
- Discarded Nut Youth Theatre nurturing the next generation of creatives through inspiring, playful and high-quality experiences
- The Nutshell Winchester’s intimate, independent venue for adventurous performance and community connection
Discarded Nut's CEO, Harriet Morris, explained: "We champion the wealth of talent within our city and beyond, collaborating with local artists, supporting emerging voices, and celebrating the creativity of children and young people. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to building an inclusive, welcoming, and joyful space where everyone is valued, supported, and encouraged to fulfil their potential."
About The Production
In a world that punishes vulnerability and devours beauty, Discarded Nut rips into Shakespeare’s most devastating tragedy, exposing razor-sharp insights on toxic masculinity, race, and human fallibility. Visually arresting, brutally honest, and emotionally explosive, Othello is a fearless exploration of what happens when we are driven to the edge.
Preview performances take place on 4th and 5th March, available on a pay what you can basis. Previews offer a unique chance to see the production as it takes shape, allowing the creative team to see audience reactions and make changes before the show officially opens. Being part of a preview audience helps shape the final performances.
The final production run opens on 10th March and runs until 21st March. To book tickets to Othello or find out more about this organisation, visit www.discardednut.co.uk.
