Omnimed Installs Solar Panels: Powering a Greener Future

Omnimed is excited to announce the successful installation of a solar panel system, marking a significant step towards enhancing our commitment to environmental sustainability. The new system, installed by C2 Renewable Solutions, features 48 Tiger Neo N-type panels, each with a capacity of 420-440 watts. It is supported by a SolaX Power inverter and battery. Omnimed would like to thank Winchester City Council for the Green Business Grant which helped make the solar panel installation possible.

In line with our commitment to the wider
Greener NHS initiative, we are supporting the NHS goals in decarbonising the NHS, which is essential for mitigating health risks from climate change, enhancing operational resilience, and fulfilling legal commitments to net zero emissions by 2045. As a supplier to the NHS, we are working with our critical suppliers to explore initiatives aimed at reducing our CO2 footprint throughout our supply chain to assist with delivering high-quality medical devices while contributing to a healthier planet.

Omnimed’s Green Endoscopy Champion and Supply Chain Assistant, Hope James said, “I’m thrilled to say that our facility now features 48 solar panels installed on the roof, supported by three energy storage batteries. This innovative system allows us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint and demonstrate our commitment to environmental sustainability.”

Hope added, “As the first business in the centre utilising solar panels, we hope our positive example inspires our neighbours to consider similar eco-friendly initiatives. This upgrade also helps us lower our electricity bills which is especially important during the coming winter months.”

The environmental benefits of our solar installation are significant. By harnessing solar energy, we generate pure, clean energy. This installation on our facility's roof enables us to save an impressive 4 tons of CO2 emissions and achieves a remarkable 108% reduction in CO2, SOx, and NOx emissions. Over its lifetime, the solar installation will help us avoid the equivalent of 131,244 car kilometres, contribute to the planting of 844 trees, and prevent 94 long-haul flights from occurring. This initiative not only supports our sustainability goals but also plays a crucial role in promoting a healthier planet.

Managing Director, Michael Morris said “Omnimed very much align ourselves with the NHS goals in decarbonising the NHS which is essential for mitigating health risks from climate change, enhancing operational resilience, and fulfilling legal commitments to net zero emissions by 2045. As a supplier to the NHS, we are working with our critical suppliers in looking into initiatives in reducing our CO2 Footprint throughout our supply chain to assist with delivering high-quality medical devices while contributing to a healthier planet."

At Omnimed, we believe that every step towards sustainability matters. Join us in making a positive impact!
